With the onset of the Festive Season, most of the automakers are gearing up for new product launches. There are even some who are giving attractive discounts and offers to attract new customers and retain old ones.
Kia Motors India will be launching its subcompact SUV the Sonet in India on September 18. This will be the third product from Kia in the Indian market. The SUV will be available in a total of six variants within two trims - Tech Line and GT Line. We can expect the price of the SUV to fall in the range of Rs 6.5 lakhs - Rs 12.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The upcoming Sonet features Kia’s traditional tiger-nose grille. This is further coupled with LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, a rear diffuser and dual exhaust pipes. Its sides cater to 16-inch alloy wheels with black cladding on the wheel arches. As for the interior features, the SUV borrows the largest in-segment 10.25-inch HD touchscreen unit and the multi-function steering wheel from Kia Seltos. It even gets a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, BOSE seven-speaker audio with subwoofer among others. At the heart, the Sonet will get a total of three engine options. A 1.2-litre petrol engine linked to a 6-speed gearbox, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit that will come equipped with a 6-speed iMT gearbox and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. While a 1.5-litre diesel mill will be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Skoda Auto India launched the new Rapid earlier this year. The model was available with a manual transmission option only. Now the company will be launching the automatic variant this month. We can expect this new variant to fall in the price bracket of Rs 8.5 lakhs - Rs 12.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). This new variant will get the same powertrain as the manual version. The mill will continue to belt out a maximum power of 110 bhp and a peak torque of 175 Nm. The only major change is in the transmission. The engine powering Rapid AT will be linked to a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. A change in the mileage figure is also expected. The manual variant offers an ARAI certified 18.97 kmpl while the new automatic variant should offer 16.24 kmpl (ARAI Certified). Its design and features remain unchanged. Also, the new Rapid AT will be available in 5 trims.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors is all set to launch its youngest urban SUV, Urban Cruiser this month. The company has already commenced bookings for the same. Based on Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the SUV is expected to fall in the price bracket of Rs 8.5 lakhs - Rs 11 lakhs (ex-showroom). After Baleno hatchback sold as Glanza in the market, this will be Toyota’s second spin-off of another Maruti model. Design-wise, the subcompact SUV will get a front grille with chrome accents and trapezoidal LED fog lamps. In addition, it will also feature LED projector headlamps, dual-function LED DRL's along with indicators. The SUV will ride on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, it will get dual-tone dark brown upholstery. Toyota has equipped the Urban Cruiser with a plethora of features that include an auto AC, rain-sensing wipers, electrochromic IRVM among many others. It will also provide a Smart Play Cast touchscreen audio system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Under the bonnet, the subcompact SUV will get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder K-Series petrol engine. The engine will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
Mercedes Benz India will be launching the first member of the AMG series, GLE coupe on September 23. The company has already commenced bookings for the same. The coupe-SUV is expected to be priced at Rs 1.25 crore (ex-showroom). In comparison to the standard GLE, this new variant will get a sportier look. As the name suggests, the new coupe-SUV will get a sweeping roofline. Furthermore, it will feature ‘Panamericana’ AMG grille. The front bumper gives a sporty look to the coupe. The rear end gets a bespoke design. The cabin of the coupe-SUV looks similar to that of the standard model. On the inside, it will get upgraded sport seats, two 12.3-inch screens, and a heads-up display. The new model will cater to a flat-bottom 3-spoke steering wheel that is not present in the standard GLE. The black floor mats will get AMG lettering on it. At the heart, the GLE coupe will feature a 3.0-litre AMG six-cylinder, inline engine with twin-turbocharging and EQ boost. The engine would churn out a maximum power of 435 bhp and a peak torque of 520 Nm. The EQ boost generates an additional power of 22 bhp along with 250 Nm torque. Talking about the transmission option, the coupe-SUV will boost of a 9-speed 9G automatic setup that sends power to all the four wheels.
Audi India teased the Q2 SUV a few days back thus confirming its launch in the country. The luxury SUV was first launched in the International market in 2016. Post that, the model received a mid-life update. The teaser video released by the company gives us a fair idea of what the SUV will look like. The pre-lifted Q2 will be based on the MQB platform which also underpins the Volkswagen T-Roc. Design-wise, the luxury SUV will flaunt a large, single-frame grille upfront. In addition, it will also get LED headlamps integrated with LED DRLs. Other design elements include silver skid plates, blacked-out B pillar, black-body cladding on bumpers and wheel arches. Audi has equipped the Q2 with a plethora of interior features. These include a 12.3-inch touchscreen unit along with an 8.3-inch multimedia infotainment system. The luxury SUV also gets a digital cockpit instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control among many others. Mechanically, the India-spec model is likely to draw its power from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. It will churn out a maximum power of 190 bhp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Power to all the four wheels will be sent by a 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox via Quattro All-Wheel Drive system.
Royal Enfield Motorcycles will be launching the Meteor 350 this month. A lot of details about the upcoming motorcycle have been revealed in the past. This has further given us a confirmation that the new Meteor 350 is all set to replace the Thunderbird 350 siblings in the Indian market. We can expect the bike to be priced in the range of Rs 1.65 lakh - Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle will be available in three trims - Fireball, Stellar, and Supernova. The base ‘Fireball’ trim will get blacked-out components while the mid-spec ‘Stellar’ trim will feature body-coloured components. Talking about the top-end ‘Supernova’ trim, it will get dual-tone paint scheme and premium seat upholstery. Cosmetically, all the three trims will flaunt a round halogen headlamp, LED DRLs, round rear tail-lights along with indicators. The motorcycle will get a new 349cc single-cylinder engine equipped with a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) and an electronic fuel-injection system. The motor will generate 19.8 bhp power and 28 Nm torque while being linked to a 5-speed gearbox.
