New Cars and SUVs Launched Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

Automakers launched cars and updated models during the coronavirus lockdown.

Coronavirus outbreak has triggered a lockdown across the nation. This has forced many automakers to postpone the launch of their vehicles, had Coronavirus not been a concern then in that case by now we would have had many new cars and SUV's to look forward to. However having said this, there were a couple of brands which introduced updated products into the Indian car market. 


Check out the list of all cars and SUVs that were launched amid the Coronavirus lockdown:

 

MG Hector Diesel

MG Motor India silently introduced BS6 compliant Hector diesel SUV in the Indian market. The 2020 BS6 MG Hector has been priced in the range of Rs 13.88 lakhs - Rs 17.73 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Hector continues to source power from the 2.0-litre FIAT-sourced diesel engine. The oil mill delivers a power output of 170 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Apart from the BS 6 update, there is no other change in this SUV. The equipment and features remain the same.

BS6 Maruti CelerioX

Maruti Suzuki launched the BS6 compliant CelerioX in India. BS6 Maruti CelerioX is priced in the range of Rs 4.90 lakhs - Rs 5.67 lakhs (ex-showroom). Under the hood, Maruti CelerioX is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that churns out  66 bhp power @ 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm torque @ 3,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and a 5-speed AMT transmission as an option. The hatchback is available in four variants namely VXI, VXI (O), ZXI and ZXI (O).

 

Maruti Celerio

 

Tata Nexon XZ+ with Sunroof

Tata Motors launched Nexon XZ+ (S) variant in India on the 3rd of April. Tata Nexon XZ+ is priced at Rs 10.10 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs 11.60 lakhs for the diesel model, (all prices mentioned here are ex-showroom - India). The Nexon XZ+ (S) bridges the gap between the top-spec XZ+ and the XZ+ (O) and it comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof. It is based on the XZ+ (O) as it shares the equipment list and associated technologies with it.

 

Tata NExon

2020 Hyundai Verna Facelift

Hyundai Verna continues to be one of the top-selling C-segment sedans in the country. Hyundai launched India’s first fully connected mid-size sedan, Verna Facelift in the India market amid the lockdown. 2020 Hyundai Verna Facelift gets major changes under the hood. It comes with three BS6 compliant engines. First is a 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox. While the diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-litre engine compatible with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There is also a high-performance 1.0-litre T-GDI petrol engine on offer which comes equipped with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. 

 

Verna Facelift

2020 Mahindra Bolero Facelift

2020 Mahindra Bolero BS6 Facelift was launched at Rs 7.98 lakhs (ex-showroom) amid the lockdown. It comes with changed variant nomenclature in three trims: B4, B6 and B6 (O). While the cabin has been entirely retained from the ongoing SUV, the top-end variants do get static bending headlamps as a standard feature. Under the hood, it is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mHawk75 diesel engine that develops top power of 75bhp while mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
