Ford India is planning to introduce an all-new C-segment SUV in the country by 2021-22. Ford has partnered with Mahindra to produce this new model. Furthermore, the model codenamed ‘CX757’ will be based on the New-Gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 that has been spied in production guise on Indian roads. It will bridge the gap between the Ford EcoSport and the Ford Endeavour. The first set of images of the upcoming Ford C-Segment SUV have just been leaked online.
The spy images reveal that the model is close to the production version. It is seen featuring a hexagonal front grille with a Ford logo in the centre. In addition, it also gets a dual-tone bumper with a wide air intake. Furthermore, the images also reveal that the upcoming SUV will get a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs. The main headlamp cluster is spotted right next to the front grille. We can expect the new Ford C-segment SUV to be offered as a 5-seater model.
Its engine specifications have not been revealed yet. However, we can expect the new SUV to be offered with two engine options. A 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mStallion, turbocharged petrol unit that will deliver 190 bhp of maximum power output with 330 Nm of peak torque. While the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit will churns out 180 bhp power and 400 Nm torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be available as options.
Despite being based on the same platform, both Ford and Mahindra SUVs will be completely different from each other. The upcoming SUV will carry Ford’s distinctive American looks and on the other hand, will be inspired by Mahindra’s new-age design language. Once launched, it will rival the likes of Tata Harrier and MG Hector in its segment.
