Geneva Motor Show 2020 was canceled due to the Coronavirus outbreak which affected the plans of various automobile brands as they were all set to launch and unveil a plethora of new products. Audi was also affected by the Geneva Motor Show 2020 cancellation and hence, it had no option but to opt for a virtual unveiling of the new-generation A3 Sportback. The India launch of the new Sportback is still unconfirmed but we can expect it to finally hit the roads by the end of 2020.
The new Audi A3 Sportback is being introduced in Europe with a choice of three engine options – a 1.5 TFSI petrol with 148 bhp and a 2.0 TDI diesel that delivers power in two tunes: 114 bhp and 148 bhp. Power will be transmitted by a six-speed manual transmission or the seven-speed S Tronic automatic unit. After the market launch, Audi will offer other engine options like electrified drive systems and versions with Quattro all-wheel-drive drive. The A3 Sportback is equipped with Audi pre sense front, swerve assist and lane departure warning offering a high degree of safety. Dimension wise, Audi A3 Sportback measures 4.34 meters in length and 1.82 meters in width without the mirrors.
The interior is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated at the centre of the instrument panel which can recognize letters entered by hand while providing acoustic feedback. It can be controlled using natural language. The instrument cluster which can be operated by the multifunction steering wheel is fully digital. The seat upholstery are made of recycled PET bottles and adorned with stylish contrasting stitching which is being used for the first time. The pre-sales of the new Audi A3 Sportback has already begun in many European countries in March 2020, with the first deliveries beginning in May.
