While the 2020 new-gen Hyundai Creta is launched today at an introductory price of Rs 9.99 lakhs - Rs 17.20 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom), Hyundai has announced massive discounts on the BS4 model. The BS4 model that was priced between Rs 9.99-15.72 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom) is now being offered with a total discount of Rs 1.50 Lakhs. The second-gen SUV comes with BS6 compliant engines along with substantial cosmetic updates. While these changes do make the BS6 model enticing but the question is whether you should wait for the new model or go for the present model which is up for grabs at a huge discount. Here’s how the BS6 Hyundai Creta differs from the BS4 model.

The BS4 Creta model offers a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 120 bhp power and 154 Nm torque. It also offers two diesel options namely a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder unit producing 89 bhp power and 220 Nm torque and a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder diesel unit producing 126 bhp power and 265 Nm torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard along with a 6-speed torque converter as optional albeit only with the 1.6-litre engines.
The BS6 Creta SUV will offer three engine options borrowed from Kia Seltos. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 115 bhp power and 144 Nm torque, a 1.5-litre diesel delivering a power output of 115 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol churning out a max-power of 140 bhp and 242 Nm torque. A six-speed manual transmission will be available with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre petrol will also be offered with a CVT unit, whereas the diesel will get a 6-speed torque converter auto transmission. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol will be available only with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The BS4 Hyundai Creta featured sweptback headlamps with halogen projector lamps and LED DRLs along with fog lamps. It also offered front and rear bumpers with a dual-tone combination along with glossy black C-pillar. The top-spec variant rides on 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels while the rest gets 16-inch alloy wheels.
The BS6 Creta SUV is much more bold and aggressive in terms of appearance. The front fascia features a larger radiator grille for a tougher styling. It also gets new vertical headlamps with three LED projectors along with C-shaped LED DRLs. The turn indicators have been placed along with fog lamps though much lower at the front bumper. Moving to the sides, the new Hyundai Creta get squarish wheel arches. The rear gets vertical LED tail lamps with C-shaped LED inserts. It also features an LED stoplight in the middle of the boot lid. The SUV boasts of bigger skid plates on the rear bumper along with reverse lamps. There are newly designed 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels as standard.
The BS4 model came packed with a plethora of comfort features. These included a 7-inch touchscreen AVN system, smartphone connectivity options, wireless charging, keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, fully-automatic temperature control with cluster ionizer among others. Other highlights were the ‘iBlue’ audio control app along with a smart key band. The cabin also featured a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat.
The BS6 model is expected to share the cabin layout with Kia Seltos. It is all set to come loaded with lots of premium bits and a huge Tesla-like 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system along with a 7-inch MID. The new SUV also gets a multifunction, flat-bottomed steering wheel. Equipped with modern technology, the new Creta will have BlueLink connected car technology and an eSIM embedded into the infotainment system. It is also expected to offer Full Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) with a cluster ionizer that will help to maintain the cabin temperature and will have a mood change bar.
Boasting of the HIVE body structure, the BS4 Creta came packed with a plethora of safety features. These included dual-airbags, speed sensing auto door locks, and ABS with EBD as standard. Other highlighted features included an electrochromic mirror, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), reverse parking camera with sensors, HAC (Hill Assist Control), and front seat belts with pre-tensioners.
The BS6 Creta model is expected to be equipped with 6-airbags in the top-end trim across engines. Side impact protection, dual-airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, and ABS along with EBD will be offered as standard across the entire range.
