In all likelihood, it will be based on the modified Global C platform

Vitara Brezza has been one of the successful products for Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market in recent years. The manufacturer had introduced the Brezza Facelift in February 2020 as the new BS6 Emission Norms came into play. It has been the leading force in the highly competitive yet lucrative subcompact SUV segment in India. With new emerging competitors like Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a New-Gen Vitara Brezza. Earlier scheduled for 2022, it is expected to arrive at the dealerships in the third quarter of 2021. Maruti Vitara Brezza sale could probably coincide with the Diwali festive period to drive home sales. Thanks to our friends at Team-BHP, we have more details on the upcoming subcompact SUV.

The New Generation Brezza is currently codenamed YXA, it will receive design updates and new features. As per the media report, the manufacturer has already lined-up vendors in the country. Getting the vendors on-board is an important step before the production commences. The automotive manufacturers have been reeling from component scarcity which has forced many to delay launches. So, it is a good step by Maruti to get the components sorted out before venturing out on production.

Everything is still under the wraps about the all-new Vitara Brezza. In all likelihood, it will be based on the modified Global C platform. It will underpin the rumoured New-Gen Vitara Brezza. Suzuki and Toyota have also joined hands to develop new vehicles for the Indian market. One of the first products to emerge from the JV would be an all-new midsize SUV. Reportedly, it is underpinned by Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture). The platform serves as a base for Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky currently selling in the international market. Further, the chassis has been categorized into 3 segments - Kei car segment, A-segment, and future B-segment products for emerging markets.

The new Brezza is likely to be sold with only a BSVI compliant petrol engine as we are seeing with current Maruti vehicles on sale in the country. The manufacturer is currently working on developing diesel engines so we could see an introduction sometime later in 2021. The current model is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 104 bhp of power output with 138Nm of torque. Transmission options here would be a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. The homegrown manufacturer might introduce a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine to compete with other rivals who offer the same.
