The new-generation Toyota Land Cruiser has made its world premiere. Being the company's flagship model globally, it has been christened as the 300 Series while it comes with a myriad of cosmetic as well as mechanical updates. This year, the Japanese brand is commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Land Cruiser SUV as it was firstly introduced in 1951. It is being sold internationally across 170 countries including India while Toyota has sold cumulatively over 10.4 million units of the SUV till date.
The new-gen Toyota Land Cruiser is based on the lightweight and rigid TNGA-F platform which has subsequently resulted in reduction in weight by 200 kgs as compared to the older version. The Japanese automaker has also lowered the centre of gravity alongside better weight distribution and an improved suspension structure. Design-wise, it carries forward the boxy silhouette while flaunting the chrome finished radiator grille and tri-beam LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs. Also, the SUV gets U-shaped front vents, redesigned front bumper and a rugged bonnet. As for side profile, it comes with squared wheel arches which are flanked by 19-inch alloy wheels as standard and 20-inch alloy wheels as an option. The roof rails, U-shaped wrap around LED tail lamps and flat tailgate sum up the styling updates.
The 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser interior cabin is finished in premium leather along with all the three rows of seats. Some of the notable features include digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control, heated and ventilated seats, and a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology. Mechanically, it is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants have a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo motor at the helm of affairs with power output of 409 bhp and peak torque of 650 Nm. The diesel variants, on the other hand, come with a 3.3L V6 twin turbo mill which churns out 304 bhp and 700 Nm. Both the engines are offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.
