The new Verna will be launched in India in the coming months.

Hyundai’s New Verna was first revealed as a concept at the 2016 Beijing auto show last August. It continues to be sold as the Verna and will feature Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2 design language.

The car is 15mm longer, 29mm wider and has a wheelbase that’s 10mm longer than the current model, so you can expect it to be more spacious on the inside. Boot space is up by 16 litres and the car is heavier by 10kg.

There’s a more driver-focussed dashboard layout and the car comes with a new 7.0-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car will most probably come with dual airbags and ABS as standard, while top-of-the-line trims will get six airbags. Automatic variants will come with ESP too.

The engines are expected to remain unchanged – the same 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines will be offered, however, they will be tweaked for better drivability and fuel economy. Hyundai will provide the option of a new six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with this car when it’s launched. A mild-hybrid version may also be on the cards as well.
