Hyundai is hoping to regain lost ground in the segment.

As the Indian launch of the Hyundai Verna draws closer, the car has been spotted being tested on Indian roads. These test mules are completely wrapped in a camouflage to save cosmetic details of the car from further attention. The launch of the sedan is a significant move for Hyundai, the company is hoping to regain market presence in that particular segment.

Global markets have already welcomed the Verna and the Russian version of the car called Solaris. The Verna will be similarly styled as the Solaris, but we can expect a few changes. Like the Solaris, the Verna will be getting an upright dashboard and the large centrally located touchscreen atop the centre console. Additional facilities in the car such as auto climate control and smartphone-compatible infotainment system will be included. The Verna will be powered by the existing set of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines, though they may be tweaked according to the car's new specifications.

The next-gen model is also based on the company's new fluidic 2.0 design style, so expect a wider grille and swept back headlamps with a projector setup. The sedan will run on diamond cut alloy wheels that really cut a dapper look, while LED headlamps will light the way ahead. Hyundai might also offer a mild hybrid version.

According to a leaked image of an internal company presentation, the car could be launched in Indian markets in August 2017.
