Manifattura Automobili Torino will make 25 units of the Stratos.

The New Lancia Stratos was on display at the Geneva motor show. Made by Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), the car makes 550hp and 519Nm. The Stratos is based on the Ferrari F430 and pays homage to Lancia's legendary sports and rally car – there were a total of 492 cars that were built between 1973 and 1978.

There will be three versions that will go on sale, there will be a GT racer, a Safari version and 'a competent supercar for the daily use'. The new Stratos was commissioned by billionaire German entrepreneur Michael Stoschek. He is Chairman of car parts supplier Brose and is also a rallying enthusiast. The car’s design was penned by Pininfarina. The only detail about the engine is that it produces 542bhp.

“I am delighted that other passionate car enthusiasts will be able to experience how the successor to the most fascinating rally car of the 1970s still sets the bar for design and performance,” said Stoschek.

MAT designs, engineers and builds one-off and limited production luxury and racing models.
