Mercedes-Benz has a glimpse of its new E-class Cabriolet in a short video that showcases the car’s folding roof mechanism.
The car, soon to debut at the Geneva motor Show in March, is bigger and more spacious than the model it replaces. Its base variants will get the option of a 245hp turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 194hp 2.0-litre diesel motor, while also on offer will be a 333hp 3.0-litre V6 petrol offered on the E 400 Cabriolet.
All engines will be paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, with the E400 getting four-wheel drive as standard.
A hotter AMG tuned E 50 Cabriolet 4Matic will be introduced at a later stage. This version of the E Cabriolet will be powered by a 450hp-plus twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine which will come with an electronic boosting function.
In its latest avatar, the E-class is available in sedan, coupe and estate body-styles, of which, the sedan has just been launched here in India in its long wheelbase avatar. The sedan costs Rs 56.15 - 69.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
