To capitalize on festive season vehicle buying, TVS Motors has just launched a racier version of the hot selling NTorq automatic scooter. Called the NTorq race edition, this automatic scooter is essentially a cosmetic makeover for the 125cc offering, with three feature enhancements. Feature enhancements include an LED headlamp, LED tail lamp and a hazard lights switch. In terms of cosmetic changes, the scooter gets a chequered flag graphics and a triple tone paint scheme that’s a combination of matte black, metallic black and metallic red colors. Mechanically, the TVS NTorq 125 Race Edition remains unchanged.
What this means is, it continues to be powered by a 125cc four stroke engine with 9.4 PS of peak power at 7,500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. A CVT automatic gearbox is standard. Telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear shock absorber handle suspension, and the scooter gets a petal disc brake on the front wheel. Alloy wheels and tubeless tyres are standard while there’s a Bluetooth interface offered as standard with the instrument cluster.
The NTorq is aimed primarily at younger buyers looking for a sharp looking, sporty automatic scooter. The best part about the NTorq is its grunty exhaust note that gives riders the feel of riding a scooter with a much bigger engine. The NTorq rivals the likes of the Aprilia SR125, the Honda Grazia 125 and the Suzuki Burgman 125. All four scooters look sharp and are primarily aimed at younger buyers. The Burgman 125 is the biggest of the lot with ample dimensions and the feel of a touring scooter while the Aprilia SR125 is the lightest and smallest.
Mr. Aniruddha Haldar, Vice President (Marketing) – Commuter Motorcycles, Scooters & Corporate Brand, TVS Motor Company, had this to say about the NTorq Race Edition,
“Since its launch, TVS NTORQ 125 has become a darling of its Gen Z customers. Their love is demonstrated in huge measure on their social media handles, especially Instagram. Apart from its striking appearance and the TVS SmartXonnect feature, it is the performance which has been the hallmark of the TVS NTORQ 125 experience. The scooter is built on a rich pedigree of 37 years of TVS Racing and the Race Edition is launched to celebrate the same. Today, nearly 4 lakh youthful consumers are proud NTORQians and with this launch we are confident of growing this tribe from strength to strength. We shall also be opening pre-booking online for the TVS NTORQ 125 Race Edition in select cities.”
