Prices to start at around the Rs 1.9 crore mark; long-wheelbase ‘Executive’ Panamera to arrive by end of 2017; hybrid model expected at later stage.

Porsche’s second-gen Panamera is set to hit Indian showrooms in March 2017. The sporty four-door sedan will initially be offered in its ‘Turbo’ form that’s powered by a 550hp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine.

The big news this time, however, is that a long-wheel-base ‘Executive’ variant of the model will also go on sale in India later. This version of the Panamera has a 150mm longer wheelbase than the standard car. This means plenty of leg room for occupants at the rear, which should make it a hit with chauffeur-driven buyers.

Besides the petrol-powered model, the Panamera is also likely to get a set of diesel engines which could include 3.0-litre V6 and 4.0-litre V8 motors. Also, expect a more powerful petrol engine and even a hybrid model to join the line-up at a later stage.

While the standard ‘Turbo’ could be yours at an estimated Rs 1.9 crore (ex-showroom), expect the longer Executive Turbo to cost upwards of Rs 2 crore.

The sports car maker will also bring in its 718 Boxster and Cayman to India on February 15. Prices for these junior sportscars will start at around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom).
