Facelifted Range Rover Sport Unveiled

Facelifted Range Rover Sport gets updated interiors and exteriors; trims include new hybrid and SVR model.

Land Rover has unveiled its facelifted 2018 Range Rover Sport. The SUV gets many cosmetic changes inside and out and new variants. In addition, the Sport can be had in a 575hp SVR trim or a new plug-in hybrid variant. This is a mid-life update before it is replaced by an all-new model in 2020.

The facelift has a reworked grille, new LED headlamps, and interiors similar to the Velar. Moreover, the car will receive the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system that features two 10-inch touchscreens and up to 12 power points.

The SVR model is powered by the Jaguar F-type SVR’s V8 engine that develops 575hp, it gets an additional 25hp over the current model. Land Rover also claims a faster 0-100kph time of 4.5 seconds, down by 0.2 seconds over the previous generation model. The plug-in hybrid variant of the new Range Rover Sport, called the P400e, is part of the company’s plan to have an electrified version of every model in their range on sale from 2020. The hybrid P400e has a 300hp, four-cylinder petrol engine with an 116hp electric motor. The hybrid has a combined output of 404hp helping the SUV hit 100kph in a claimed 6.7 seconds. The British carmaker also claims a fuel economy of 37.75kpl and an electric only range of up to 50km. Charging the P400e will take a claimed 2 hours and 45 minutes thanks to a special home wall box, but a regular outlet will take 7 hours and 30 minutes for the same.

In addition to the SVR and P400e, the Range Rover Sport facelift will be offered with a full range of petrol and diesel powertrains, including a four-cylinder, V6 and V8 units.
