The XC60 is expected to go on sale in the latter half of the year and will be sold in its fully-loaded Inscription trim only. Like all Volvos, this car will be offered with a host of tech and safety features.
Under the hood of this Volvo sits the more powerful 235hp, 2.0-litre D5 diesel engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with all-wheel drive as standard. This will make it one of the most powerful cars in its segment, with its closest rival, as far as power is concerned, being the 190hp BMW X3 xDrive20d.
The less powerful 190hp D4 diesel unit could make its way here later too. Volvo might even consider bringing its 320hp T6 petrol and 407hp T8 Twin-Engine petrol-hybrid derivatives to India as well.
The new SUV will be available with features such as an air suspension, a Bowers and Wilkins audio system, Nappa leather upholstery, a heads-up display and large 19-inch alloy wheels, to name a few. Volvo will offer its radar-based safety systems on the XC60, the only other car to get this system apart from the XC90 Excellence trim.
The XC60 will be assembled at the company’s Bengaluru unit. Expect pricing to be in the region of ₹52 – 55 lakh (ex-showroom).
