Next Gen Hyundai Creta To Come With 1.5L Engines

Hyundai Creta has been ruling the roost in the compact SUV segment since it was launched in the Indian market. So much so, that even the recent influx of competition has not managed to dent the established position of the South Korean brand’s SUV in the country. However, the company is in no mood to rest and has been working on an all-new version of the Creta. This new generation model will replace the current SUV and has already been showcased in China. Now there are reports coming in that the brand will do with smaller engines in the next gen Creta for Indian market.

As is already common knowledge by this point, the upcoming next gen Creta will be based on the same platform that the Kia Seltos in based on. The platform of the Seltos has been derived from the same platform that the Hyundai Verna is based on. However, not just the platform, the upcoming generation Creta will also come with the same engine options as the Kia Seltos.

Talking of the engine offered on the Kia Seltos, the petrol units will be a 1.5L naturally aspirated unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 138 Nm. The next option in the petrol line-up will be a 1.4L turbo petrol unit rated to deliver 138 Bhp and 242 Nm. Moving on to the diesel option, the diesel unit will be a 1.5L turbo unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 250 Nm. One can expect the same options to be seen on next gen Creta as well. The 1.4L turbo petrol could be seen on the Creta under the badge of the N-Power variant, similar to the GT Line variant of Kia Seltos. Notably, Hyundai will offer the 1.5L diesel and petrol engines with the upcoming facelifted version of Verna sedan as well.

Talking of the next generation Creta, the updated model comes with a host of changes that are not just limited to the exteriors of the SUV. The compact SUV will make its way to the 2020 Auto Expo in India as well. Now there are reports stating that the South Korean giant will make Creta its second connected product in the Indian market. The new version of the Creta is expected to come with even more premium features and this may also mean a bump in prices. However, the company is tight-lipped about the same as of now. With the launch of the Creta SUV expected to take place sometime during the Auto Expo 2020, only time will tell what Creta has in store for us.
