Mahindra XUV500 spied testing in heavy camouflage; slated to be launched in early 2021

Mahindra & Mahindra recently unveiled the new-gen Thar in the Indian market, thus confirming its launch in October this year. Besides this, the company has been working on a range of new products such as the all-new Scorpio and the next-gen XUV500. Talking about the next-gen XUV500, then the SUV has been spotted quite a few times doing test runs on the roads. Recently, it was once again spotted testing with heavy camouflage.

As per the spy images, we can clearly state that the new model will retain the current model’s silhouette. The SUV will be based on an all-new monocoque platform. The images also reveal that the SUV gets a six-slated front grille. In terms of dimensions, it will be bigger in size in comparison to the current model. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will get subtle design changes. It is also likely to get a host of new features.

Under the bonnet, the Mahindra XUV500 is likely to draw power from an all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that will generate 190 bhp power. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option. Furthermore, this particular engine will be replacing the current 2.2-litre unit. Apart from this, the higher variant of the SUV might come with an AWD system.

As for the prices, the Next-Gen Mahindra XUV500 is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 14 lakhs - Rs 20 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). Mahindra & Mahindra launched the first-generation XUV500 in 2011. The model was quite popular in the SUV segment. It hardly had any competition around in the Indian market. However, with the arrival of multiple rivals in these years, Mahindra too gave several updates to the SUV.
