Nissan Magnite Price Could Start at Rs 5.25 Lakhs

Nissan Magnite is going to be the most affordable sub 4-meter SUV in India.

Nissan India is all set to introduce an all-new sub-compact SUV in the country. The various reports have indicated that it could be named 'Magnite' however, the biggest news of the hour is that Nissan Magnite price will start at just Rs 5.25 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). Being internally codenamed as EM2, it is being expected to launch in the Indian market by mid 2020. The Magnite is going to be the most affordable sub 4-meter SUV in India in a segment which comprises of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.

Earlier, the Japanese automaker had planned to introduce the Magnite SUV under its budget-friendly brand Datsun but as it has changed its plans now and decided to discontinue the Datsun brand from India due to low sales. Nissan Magnite will be sharing the heavily localised version of CMF-A+ modular architecture with the upcoming Renault HBC sub 4-meter SUV. This platform already does duties to Renault Kwid and Renault Triber. It has been further learnt that Nissan Magnite will come loaded with several bells and whistles in the form of automatic climate control system, sunroof, 360-degree camera and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. In fact, it is also expected to get connected car technology as well.

Under the hood, Nissan Magnite will have a 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine in two modes: naturally aspirated and turbocharged. The former, sourced from Renault Triber, generates maximum power output of 71bhp and peak torque performance of 96Nm while the latter is capable of belting out top power of 99bhp and peak torque of 160Nm. The company will offer a couple of transmission options with the SUV in the form of a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. Nissan Magnite teasers have started surfacing on the internet and further information is expected to be revealed in the coming few weeks. Presently, Nissan is not retailing any vehicles in the Indian market from April 1, the day when BS6 emission norms came into place.
