The Micra, Sunny and Terrano will come with vehicle telematics for services like vehicle diagnostics, service reminders and GPS tracking.

Nissan’s cars will now allow you to connect via an app and will offer features like service reminders, GPS tracking and vehicle diagnostics. Details are still scarce but the services could be similar to Honda’s ‘Connect’ system introduced in 2015, with some key differences concerning features and data security.

This move is part of Nissan's global 'Intelligent Mobility' plan. Along with these ‘connected’ cars, India will also see Nissan’s hybrid X-Trail, making its way here later this year. The carmaker may even bring the electric Leaf to India.

This new tech will not only benefit owners but the manufacturer too. Most cars are currently serviced by third-party or local garages after they run out of their warranty period. Now with connected cars, manufacturers can access data regarding the vehicle's running and condition, and can proactively reach out using service reminders and offers to encourage customers to visit their workshops.
