Nissan India has started accepting bookings for the Kicks while the launch is scheduled for January 2019.

Nissan India has officially begun bookings for its most anticipated product, the Kicks SUV. Dealers are accepting booking for Rs. 25,000/- across the country. Customers can also book their Kicks online. The media drive for Nissan Kicks was held earlier this week.

The India-spec Kicks is substantially larger and more rugged compared to the Kicks sold abroad. It is based on the same platform as the Nissan Terrano and the Renault Duster/Captur. The car does manage to look quite SUV-like and would surely attract the attention of Indian customers for its butch design, dual-tone styling and 17-inch machine-cut alloy wheels. The Kicks also boasts of a class leading ground clearance of 210 mm, something that will impress a lot of buyers.

The Nissan Kicks is powered by the tried and tested 1.5-litre K9K dci diesel engine that develops 108 BHP and 240 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The petrol variants get a 1.5-litre H4K engine good enough for 104 BHP and 142 Nm, mated to a 5-speed transmission. Nissan hasn't included the option of an automatic gearbox and AWD at the time of launch.

The SUV gets dual tone black and brown interiors with matching upholstery and is loaded to the brim with features. Nissan Kicks debuts a 360 degree camera setup in the segment. Additionally, it gets an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and in-built Navigation, rain sensing wipers, auto-headlamps, cruise control, LED projector headlamps, a cooled and illuminated glove-box and a lot more. 4 airbags on the top-end variant, ABS, EBD with brake assist as standard, Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Dynamics Control are some of the safety features included with the car.

The New Nissan Kicks is slated to launch in January 2019 and will compete against a lot of cars in the compact SUV segment, however its main competitor remains the Hyundai Creta. The Kicks looks like a very promising package from Nissan, provided they hit the sweet spot with the pricing. Nissan is all set to reveal prices for this SUV in early January 2019.
