Nissan is planning to reveal the mid-cycle update for the Kicks SUV this month. Nissan Kicks has been on sale in the global markets since 2016. With a few upgrades, the Japanese automaker is planning to launch Kicks in more markets like Thailand and even Japan, where the model was not on sale before. The updated version of Nissan Kicks will be launched in Thailand first.
Under the hood, it is expected to come with Nissan’s e-power tech, similar to the one available in the Nissan Note Premium which is sold overseas. The crossover will be powered by a 1.2-litre HR12DE three-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a 1.5kWh battery pack producing 129bhp.
The engine is used as a power generator for the batteries. The wheels are driven by an electric motor. This setup will help Nissan achieve crucial fuel efficiency and CO2 figures that are required in some international markets including Thailand.
The international version of Nissan Kicks is based on Nissan’s V-platform that underpins many other models from the Japanese automaker. On the other hand, the India-spec model of the Kicks is based on the MO platform that is shared with Renault cars like Captur and Duster.
It is expected to get slightly more angular looks, similar to the new Nissan Crossover and the Aria Crossover Concept shown recently. It gets a V-motion front grille that merges well with the bumper. It will also feature headlamps that are less rounded. The rear end gets a bumper with mild modifications along with taillamps.
It is expected to get upgrades in the interior cabin as well. The 2020 Nissan Kicks is expected to feature an updated infotainment system along with better quality materials. The crossover will ride on newly-designed alloy wheels and feature LEDs.
