Nissan Kicks Gets New Entry Level Trim in India

After launching their latest Kicks compact SUV in the Indian market, the Japanese maker Nissan has gone ahead and introduced a new trim of the Kicks. The new trim is being called the Kicks XE and it comes with a diesel engine. The price for the new trim starts at Rs. 9.89 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi,. This is a mid level trim of the Kicks overall and the entry level trim for the diesel engine variant. The introduction of the new trim will give the Kicks a much needed edge in the market as the new variant is cheaper than other rivals like Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. The company hopes that the new trim will help boost the sales of the SUV in the Indian market. Despite the lower cost of the new trim, not a lot of features have been sacrificed in the lower variant of the Kicks.

The new trim comes with safety features like dual airbags and ABS as standard. Other features include an automatic climate control setup, 2 DIN stereo system with 4 speaker setup, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, cooled glovebox, shark fin antenna, central door lock with child lock, speed sensing auto door lock, impact sensing auto door unlock, and rear parking sensors. The mechanical aspect of the new trim of the Kicks remains unchanged.

Speaking at the launch of the new trim of the Nissan Kicks, the vice president of marketing at Nissan India, Sriram Padmanabhan stated,

The new Nissan KICKS has generated positive response from SUV enthusiasts from across the country. Responding to the immense interest in an entry-level diesel variant, we have introduced the new XE Diesel trim. The feature rich new XE Diesel Trim offers a great value proposition to the consumers while ensuring best-in-class services and quality assurance.

Talking of the Nissan Kicks, it comes with 2 engine options in the Indian market. The first engine option is the 1.5L turbo diesel engine that is rated to produce 108 Bhp and 245 Nm, while the second engine option is the 1.5L petrol engine which is rated to deliver 106 Bhp and 142 Nm. Kicks is not offered with an automatic gearbox in the Indian market as of now. Nissan Kicks is placed above the Nissan Terrano SUV in the market and even costs more than the latter. The Japanese maker has plans to replace the Terrano with the Kicks in the market once it is done dispatching the leftover stock of the Terrano SUV in India. As of now Nissan is also running a discount scheme for both Kicks and Terrano in the Indian market.
