Nissan Magnite continues to make news since its launch on December 2, 2020. Now, the subcompact SUV has scored well in the crash test conducted by ASEAN NCAP. The Made-In-India Nissan Magnite received a 4-Star Safety Rating from ASEAN NCAP. The model is produced in India and exported to the international markets while the unit tested was an Indonesian-spec one.
As per the details out in the public domain, the subcompact SUV received 39.02 and 16.31 points in Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection category, respectively. As for the Safety Assist category, it scored 5.28 points. Taking all the combined scores, Nissan Magnite earned a cumulative score of 70.60 points helping it to earn a 4-Star Safety Rating. Talking in detail about the crash test, the data showed injury risk to the driver’s chest while the front passenger ‘s chest and lower legs received adequate protection. Overall, the compartment remained stable in the event of a crash. Also, as per the data revealed by the safety organization, the driver’s chest received protection in the side impact test. Moving to the Child Occupant Protection category, the unit received 7.81 and 8 points in the Dynamic Assessment Test with an 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummy, respectively.
The 5-seater Magnite tested here came equipped with safety features like standard dual airbags, ESP, and a seatbelt reminder system for both front occupants across all variants. Additionally, the model offers ISOFIX and top tether as a standard feature. The Indonesian-spec subcompact SUV retails in two variants namely Upper & Premium, and Premium CVT. The latter variant was tested with all the features.
Overall, this is a big boost to Nissan as it seeks to strengthen its presence in the lucrative domestic market as well as Asian countries. The cheapest subcompact SUV on sale in India, the 4-Star Safety Rating is highly impressive. For the safety-conscious buyers, Nissan Magnite will emerge as a good and affordable option.
Nissan Magnite is only offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine for the Indonesian market. It delivers 99 bhp of maximum power output and 160 Nm of peak torque in the manual variant while the CVT transmission provides 152 Nm torque.
