Tata Altroz turbo petrol will rival the Volkswagen Polo GT in the Indian market.

Tata Altroz was launched in January 2020 in the Indian market in the premium hatchback segment. Recently, a test mule was spied with heavy camouflage in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is still unclear which variant of Altroz is this but it is assumed to be the turbocharged petrol variant. The company has been working on the turbo petrol variant of Altroz for many months now and it is expected to hit the Indian roads during the festive season of October-November this year. Tata Altroz turbo petrol will rival the Volkswagen Polo GT in the Indian market.

Though, Tata Motors has been immensely tight-lipped about the Altroz turbo but it has been learnt that it will be similar to the standard hatchback in terms of appearance and styling. The exterior design of regular Altroz will be carried over with features like LED headlamps, sporty bumper, blacked out window sills, LED tail-lamp cluster with black rear profile and roof mounted rear spoiler. The cabin will retain the existing comfort features in the form of semi-digital instrument cluster, USB fast charger, rear AC vents, cruise control, Cooled glove box, idle start-stop system and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay as standard.

Under the bonnet, the high-performance hatch will reportedly have a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which was showcased with the Tata Altroz Geneva Edition at the Geneva Motor Show last year. This engine is capable of belting out top power of 100bhp and peak torque of 141Nm while linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a DCT gearbox as option. Tata Motors hasn't officially confirmed this but it is safe to assume that this very engine will make its way to the performance-based hatchback. Tata Altroz turbo petrol price is expected to start at Rs 8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). Meanwhile, in other news, the company is also working on an all-electric version of Altroz with a range of 300+ kilometers.
