Ola Electric has launched the S1 e-scooter at a starting price of Rs 99,999/- (Ex. Showroom) in the country. The subsidies provided by the various state governments will make it even cheaper. The electric scooter is presented in two variants namely S1 and S1 Pro while it goes on sale from September 8, 2021 with deliveries starting from October in the Indian market. It comes with a plethora of cutting-edge technologies and best-in-segment features. Ola S1 electric scooter will rival the likes of Ather 450x, Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube in India.
Ola S1 is powered by a 2.98 kWh battery while the S1 Pro gets a 3.97 kWh battery pack. The former does a 0-40kmph sprint in merely 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 90kmph while the latter accelerates to 40kmph from standstill in just 3 seconds with a top speed of 115 kmph. Both the scooters have identical power output of 11.4 bhp and torque performance of 58 Nm.
The S1 and S1 Pro come with a range of 121 kms and 181 kms, respectively on a single charge. The duo gets two riding modes in the form of Normal and Sport. However, Ola S1 Pro boasts of an additional 'Hyper' drive mode. As far as weight is concerned, The S1 and S1 Pro are rated at 121 kgs and 125 kgs, respectively.
Both the variants of the scooter ride on 12-inch wheels while equipped with disc brakes and single-sided suspension. It comes with a massive 7-inch TFT instrument console with touchscreen function. It has an array of in-built features such as Speakers for music, Mood display, Navigation, 3 GB RAM, Reverse Assist, Cruise Control, Voice-Assist, Hill Hold Control, Smartphone pairing etc. to name a few.
Similar to Netflix, it offers various user profiles for individual preferences and customizations. The electric scooter also keeps informing the rider how much Co2 he/she has avoided. A special mention goes to the proximity unlock feature which automatically unlocks Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro when the rider approaches it. All-LED lighting also comes as a standard feature. The S1 will be available in 5 color schemes while the S1 Pro can be ordered in 10 exterior shades.
Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro can be fully charged in 4.48 hours and 6.30 hours, respectively, from a 750W portable charger using a 5A socket at home or office. The company is also installing the densest and fastest 2W network of charging stations namely Ola Hypercharger network which will be setup in 100 cities this year itself. It further plans to expand it to 400 cities with 1 Lakh locations. Through this network, the scooter will return 75 kms of range within 18 minutes of charge.
Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro can be booked at a token amount of Rs 499/- online at the company's website or at the Ola app. The scooter has already registered over 1 Lakh bookings while it is being developed at Ola's factory in Tamil Nadu. The company will start the deliveries from October 2021.
