Pink Cab Service introduced in Bangalore with female drivers for female passengers.

With woman safety still being a matter of concern in the country, Bengaluru has gone ahead and introduced the ‘Pink Cab Service’. This service provides women cab drivers and will be on offer for woman passengers only. The initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). The cabs will be operational for woman passengers travel to and from the Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport).

The ‘Pink Cab’ service will select female drivers from the nearby villages thus creating employment for the women, this will help them by giving an opportunity to start a new self-dependent life. The drivers will be trained in self-defense physical training, and their cabs will be equipped with security features such as GPS and SOS switch in view of their safety.

All women irrespective of age can access the women-only ‘Pink Cab’ service. Operations started on 7th January, 2019. Initially, the service will go through the testing phase with 10 female drivers doing their duty round the clock.

"This concept has been initiated to offer a secure and safer mode of transportation for female travelers in the Bengaluru city, while simultaneously this initiative will also help women drivers to be self-employed and empowered." said Kumar Pushkar, the Managing Director of KSTDC

The day time fare for the service is Rs. 21.50/km, while the night fare is slightly costlier at Rs. 23.50/km.
