Porsche introduces 718 Boxster T and Cayman T that come with a new turbocharged engine option.
Following the success of T variants in the Carrera range of cars, Porsche has now launched the 718 Boxster T and Cayman T. The T variants are aimed at enthusiasts who want a pure experience from their 718.
The 718 T is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines mated to either a 6-speed manual or a PDK gearbox. The setup develops 300 PS of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque. This translates to a 0-100 km/hr in 4.9 seconds for the manual gearbox while the PDK can do it in 4.7 seconds. The Sport Plus mode further spices up things by achieving the 0-100 km/hr timing in 4.5 seconds. The car tops out at 275 km/hr.
The car is equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management system which reduces the ride height by 20 mm, active engine mounts, a locking rear differential and a torque vectoring technology. Exterior changes include Agate Grey mirror caps, 20-inch wheels with a high-gloss titanium grey finish, a black sports exhaust system and side stripes with '718 Boxster T' or '718 Cayman T' badging.
On the inside, the car gets a sport steering wheel, black sport seats with '718' embroidery on the headrests, gloss black trim, door pull straps and door sill plates with either 'Boxster T' or 'Cayman T' badging. However, Porsche has removed the infotainment unit from the car in order to save weight but they are available as a no-cost option for customers to install.
Porsche hasn't announced the pricing for the 718 T but the cars are supposed to be considerably more affordable. We can expect the German carmaker to introduces this version in India as well.
