The production version of the Mission E concept will be called the Taycan.

The Mission E electric car concept will spawn a production car called the Taycan, the company announced at its 70th anniversary celebrations in the carmaker’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.

The name stands for "lively, young horse" from a Eurasian dialect- a nod to the firm's crest, which has featured a leaping horse since 1952. The Taycan’s 800V charging tech allows it to cover 100km of range with only four minutes of charge. The electric system makes upwards of 600hp and could offer a possible range of more than 500km on a full charge. The car is claimed to be able to hit 100kph in under 3.5sec.

The Taycan will have Level 4 autonomous driving technology but will not go the full autonomous way. The Taycan will be the first of Porsche’s electric models and the company will invest 6 billion Euros in its electric vehicle programme with 500 million Euros earmarked to make derivatives of the Taycan.
