Price Cut on Alto, Swift, Celerio

The Indian car market, which was one of the fastest-growing markets in the world is currently facing the worst slowdown in history. Car manufacturers are looking at various ways to boost sales and bring back the demand in the market. Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker has announced the reduction in the price of their various models in a bid to boost the sales of their products.

Maruti Suzuki announced that they are passing off the benefits of corporate tax reduction announced by the government to the customers. The carmaker has announced that various models will get a price reduction of Rs 5,000 on the ex-showroom prices. The models that get the price reduction are the Alto, Alto K10, Swift diesel, Celerio, Baleno diesel, Ignis, Dzire diesel, Dzire Tour S diesel, Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross. All the other models that are not mentioned in this post will continue to sell at the current prices. The new prices will be effective from 25th September 2019.

With the festive season around the corner, the manufacturers are expecting the car sales to go up. With the price reduction, Maruti Suzuki is expecting to get the entry-level customers to buy the vehicles with the price reduction.

Apart from reducing the price of the car, Maruti Suzuki will also introduce the all-new S-Presso in the Indian market. It will be launched to take on the cars like Mahindra KUV100 in the market. It should be noted that Maruti Suzuki has already officially announced that they will not offer any diesel-powered vehicles in the Indian market when the BS6 emission norms are implemented in the Indian market. Currently, the manufacturer sells the vehicles like the Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross only with a diesel engine option. However, the brand has already started testing the Vitara Brezza under heavy camouflage and in all likeliness, it will get the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine. The same engine will also power the updated S-Cross. The updated Vitara Brezza is expected to be launched in the Indian market by the end of this year or by early 2020.

Maruti Suzuki is also testing WagonR under camouflage. However, it is not confirmed if the WagonR, which is being tested by the manufacturer will get an electric powertrain or it will be a more premium version of the car, which will be sold through the Nexa premium dealership. Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched the XL6 in the Indian market, which is the more premium version of the all-new Ertiga. The XL6 comes powered only by a petrol engine option and offers six seats.
