Today, Rahul Dravid celebrates his 48th birthday away from the chaotic cricket world and glare of media. The iconic Indian cricketer was given the title of the “Wall” for his perseverance and determination to toil in the difficult cricketing period against the ferocious bowling attacks. Born on 11 January 1973, Rahul Dravid made his test debut on 20 June 1996 vs England. He scored a memorable 95 while his overall average of 62.33 from two test matches marked his rise in the long format of the game. Over a period of 16 years, Rahul Dravid led India to various victories across the world on the back of his superb technical batting. Not just runs, Dravid was an exception fielder with impressive catch taking abilities in the slip cord. Now, as a Director of Cricket Operations at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, India, he is mentoring the new wave of promising youngsters. On his birthday, we take a look at Rahul's car collection which is as impressive as his batting. 


Porsche 911 Carrera S




He owns the flamboyant Porsche 911 Carrera S, a quiet departure from his quiet style of batting. Currently, the latest Porsche 911 Carrera S is available at a stunning price of Rs 1.84 crore (ex-showroom), India. It is powered by a 2981cc, 6 cylinders flat, 4 Valves, DOHC petrol engine. The powerful coupe delivers a power output of 444 bhp and 530 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by an automatic (Dual Clutch) gearbox. It is sold in a total of 9 colours options. The manufacturer claims Porsche 911 Carrera S comes with a fuel mileage of 11.24 kmpl (ARAI).


Mercedes-Benz GLE 350




In August 2019, Dravid added the powerful Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 to his garage. Rahul’s SUV comes in a black colour paint job giving an imposing presence on the road. The price of Mercedes-Benz GLE at that time started from Rs 61.75 lakh - Rs 77.82 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi. Now discontinued in India, the German automaker used to offer 3 engine options with this SUV. The base variant was powered by a 2.1-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine with a power output of 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the mid-spec variant used to house a more powerful 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine under the bonnet. It belted an impressive 333 bhp of maximum power output with 480 Nm of peak torque. While the top-end GLE SUV trim was propelled by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine.  It used to churn out 255 bhp of power output and 620 Nm of peak torque. All three powertrains were offered with a standard 9-speed automatic transmission.


Audi Q5




Audi is a perennial presence in celebrities, businessmen and sportsmen car collections with Rahul Dravid a proud owner of an Audi Q5. In 2020, the SUV got a facelift in the global market with expectations of India launch in the coming days. The India-spec Audi Q5 will be powered by a 2.0, four-cylinder TFSI Quattro petrol engine. Expect the facelift to deliver 200 bhp of power output and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic, dual-clutch gearbox transferring power to all the four wheels via Quattro’s all-wheel-drive technology. Audi Q5 Facelift price is expected to start from Rs 55 lakhs (ex-showroom).


Hyundai Tucson




2020 Hyundai Tucson was first unveiled in the Indian market with the launch taking place in July, last year. The SUV retails in the price bracket of Rs 22.30 lakhs - Rs 27.03 lakhs (ex-showroom), India. Tucson comes equipped with two engine options - 2.0-litre petrol and diesel. The petrol engine is a naturally aspirated, inline-4-cylinder unit with performance figures of 150 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the diesel model is powered by a turbocharged, inline-4-cylinder unit, with a power output of 183 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The manufacturer is offering a front-wheel-drive system with both units while an all-wheel-drive system is only available with the diesel Tucson.


Toyota Innova Crysta




Rahul Dravid has been spotted multiple times in the Toyota Innova Crysta. The New Toyota Innova Crysta model was launched last year in the price range of Rs 16.26 lakhs to Rs 24.33 lakhs (ex-showroom). Innova Crysta Facelift comes with two engine options - a 2.4-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol. The former delivers 148 bhp power and 343 Nm of torque while the latter churns out 164 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. Both powertrains are available with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions.
