The company will reveal its Evoque Mk2, which is heavily influenced by the design of the Range Rover Velar.

Land Rover could show the all-new Range Rover Evoque in October next year at the Paris Motor Show.

Design4 boss, Gerry McGovern, stated that there is no need for the concept to be reinvented, saying it should keep its “key ingredients” intact and the design would be “more relevant”. Land Rover says the new Evoque will be more modern, precise, comfortable and luxurious.

The car’s design will be inspired by the new Velar, which has already lent styling cues to the facelifted Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. The mk2 concept featured a dual touchscreen on the central console and a wide digital instrument binnacle. The car will be built on a refreshed version of the present D8 structure. Ride quality and comfort levels will be improved, according to the company. It will be powered by the same 2.0 -litre 4-cylinder, turbocharged Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. Both the engines will be mated to JLR’s ZF-sourced nine-speed automatic gearbox.

The company has also stated in the past that all JLR models will have either an electric or a plug-in hybrid variant from 2020 onwards. The Evoque, however, is not likely to have either of them initially.

The company has not confirmed whether it will launch a pure electric Evoque either, primarily because of the limitations of the D8 architecture. There are also no details yet on when we can expect the car here in India.
