The car will most probably retain the same equipment and engines.

Skoda will introduce a rebadged version of the Rapid Monte Carlo, the Rapid Edition X. The car is the top-spec trim of the Rapid and was launched in August 2017.

A trademark dispute with the Monte Carlo clothing company has resulted in a court order, which asks the Czech manufacturer to refrain from using the Monte Carlo badge because it infringes on a copyright.

The Edition X is likely to be specced in the same way and will feature the same set of engines. On the inside, there’s a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartLink and MirrorLink, combined with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And, Skoda could fit the car with daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, dual rear AC vents, cruise control, a cooled glove box and rain-sensing wipers. The car is fitted with dual-front airbags, ABS, ESC (DSG only) and hill-hold control as standard.

The car will use a 105hp, 1.6-litre petrol motor, mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox, and a 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel motor, mated to a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG gearbox.

Expect prices to be similar to the Monte Carlo edition, which started at ₹10.75 lakh and went up to ₹13.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
