Every bike enthusiast once a while wishes to tinker with their motorcycle for either increasing performance or improving the design. Modification is an art in itself and requires painstaking detail to attention. Majority of the bike modifications we have covered were done on the Royal Enfield models. The Chennai-based automaker is quietly becoming the favourite bike for modifications across the globe, not just India. Las Vegas, Northampton, Kuala Lampur are some of the cities where Royal Enfield customized bikes are making waves. The 650 twins Interceptor and Continental GT 650 are becoming the favoured Royal Enfield motorcycles for customizations. It’s a popular choice to select the 650 twins for modification as they are affordable and return good performance figures.
It’s difficult to go wrong with a Royal Enfield design unless someone is a rookie or doesn’t have an acquired taste. Twins are better suited for design modification than 350 as they offer a suitable balance between form and function. We have covered various modifications on Royal Enfield Twins but the first time we are seeing a chopper modification of Royal Interceptor 650. The UK based Dan Baker video documented the transformation of Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 into Parallel Twin Hardball Custom Chopper. Dan Baker uploaded the video on Youtube but the build isn’t complete yet. Dan wants to get the customized Interceptor 650 mechanically perfect as much as possible.
The key highlights of the modified chopper are single-seating, wider handlebars, raise exhausts, new paint finish, low-ride height. If we talk about the mechanical side, Dan opted for redesigned fuelling and a new intake system.
The stock Royal Enfield 650 Twins are powered by a BS6 compliant 648CC SOHC Air-cooled twin cylinder engines. The bike delivers 47 bhp of maximum power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed transmission with the help of slipper clutch. At present, there is no direct competition to the Royal Enfield twins but there are plenty of alternatives below and above its price range. Price for the Interceptor and Continental GT begins from Rs 2.65 lakh and 2.80 Lakh respectively. Both the prices are ex-showroom, India.
In other news, Royal Enfield plans to introduce a new New Meteor 350 model in the coming days. Meteor 350 will replace the phased out Thunderbird and ThunderbirdX Models.
