French automaker, Renault launches the electric version of Kwid for the Chinese market.

Switching to the greener side, the French carmaker, Renault has announced the introduction of an affordable electric vehicle in 2019 and electrifying its popular models by 2020. Renault unveiled the electric version of the Kwid also known as K-ZE globally. The car will be first launched in China and then following the rest of the markets.

The stance and silhouette of the Kwid remains the same. The SUV inspired hatchback has a range of 250 km. It is equipped with a double charging system which means that it can be charged by domestic plugs and at public charging stations. Most features of the electric Kwid will be the same as the regular Kwid like rear parking sensors, rearview camera and an infotainment touchscreen.

The Kwid electric will be manufactured by e-GT New Energy Automotive Co, the joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan. After electrifying Kwid, Clio, Megane and Captur, Renault might offer the hybrid version of its B and C segment models. However, the launch of these Renault electric vehicles in India is still a question to be answered.
