The Scala sedan and the Pulse hatchback are no longer listed on Renualt’s India website.
Renault Launches the Pulse in January 2012 while the Scala was introduced in August 2012. The Both cars were badge-engineered versions of Nissan’s Micra and Sunny, respectively. Over the years, while Nissan gave both its cars multiple facelifts to keep them fresh, Renault only gave the Scala and the Pulse minor updates seen in the interiors and the equipment.
The company struggled to sell its Scala - during the March 2016-February 2017 period, Renault only sold 325 units of the Scala, and only managed 775 units in the same period the previous year.
Similarly, only 1,239 units of the Pulse were sold from March 2016 to February 2017. Sluggish sales figures have led to Renault discontinuing the two cars here.
The current range now includes the Kwid hatchback, the Duster SUV and the Lodgy MPV, and will soon be joined by the Captur. That’s a total of four models on two platforms.
