Land Rover is all set to introduce their first offering in the new Road Rover line-up in 2019.

The first offering in the new Road Rover line-up will be an electric-powered XJ-sized luxury model. According to reports, the first offering will hit markets in 2019. In a surprise move, the first model will be designed for markets like China and United States.

The upcoming model is likely to follow the Velar’s styling. The Road Rover will be designed to perform well on-road by taking advantage of its electric motors; nonetheless we can expect the Road Rover to also offer good off-road capability. In terms of luxury, the car is expected to rival the Mercedes S-Class. The model will likely be showcased for the first time at the 2019 LA motor show. Shortly after, the line-up is expected to develop into a range of car-like off-road vehicles.

The first Road Rover model is reportedly being developed alongside the next-generation XJ. Both cars will use a new-generation aluminium platform that can accommodate battery packs and an internal combustion engine. However, the Road Rover will be offered as electric-only with two electric motors. Since the car is expected to take on the S-class, we can expect similar levels of luxury, space and performance.

The Road Rover’s biggest rival at launch is expected to be the Audi E-tron Sportback.
