Royal Enfield Classic 500, Bullet 500, Thunderbird 500 to be discontinued in India.

India's most sought after two-wheeler brand Royal Enfield have revealed that they would be discontinuing the Classic 500, Bullet 500 and Thunderbird 500 in the coming months. This announcement has come at a time when manufacturers are switching over BS6 engines and considering that Royal Enfield Classic 500, Royal Enfield Bullet 500, Thunderbird 500 are still BS4, they will not be able to make it across the March Emission norm deadline.  

In order to dedicate the history and heritage attached to these motorcycle variants, the company has announced that it has brought out a special edition. Christened as Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black Edition, the limited run motorcycle will portray the last few numbers of 500cc long stroke engine that would be coming off the company production line. The brand has already commenced bookings via a dedicated page on their website. As first part of the process, customers can visit the website and make initial payment of Rs 50,000 that is non-refundable incase the booking gets confirmed. Though the actual sale can be made on the 10th of February 2020 between 2 pm to 5 pm.  

Expect Classic 500 Tribute Black Edition to have a special badging that would feature an 'End of Build' serial number. Further to differentiate it from the current line-up of motorcycles, the special edition gets a dual-tone matte and gloss black paint job. Powering this machine will be a BS4 complaint 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled fuel injected UCE (Unit Construction Engine) that produces 27.2 Bhp with 41.3Nm of peak torque. It would come matted to a 5-speed gearbox.
