Royal Enfield Enters Top 5 Sales List, Overtakes Yamaha

Royal Enfield is now on the top 5 list of two-wheeler manufacturers with a healthy growth of sales in 2018

Royal Enfield has got a push in sales in 2018 and thanks to the launch of the the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, they are further expected to grow this year. These new motorcycles from the Indian bike maker has drawn massive attention and the demand is such that the bikes have got a waiting period of several months. Royal Enfield has seen a growth of 11 percent in sales in 2018 compared to 2017.

Royal Enfield has sold 8,37,669 units in 2018 compared to 7,52,880 units in 2017, which is a prominent increase of 11 percent in sales. Thanks to the frequent updates in the Classic series of bikes and more demand, the growth is big for RE. Of late though, the Indian bike maker has been facing some heat since Jawa has re-entered the Indian market with two products - Jawa and Jawa 42.

The last few months of 2018 haven't been very easy for Royal Enfield as they sold 65,026 units in November and 56,026 units in December which is lower than their average monthly sales. However, with 11 percent YoY growth, Royal Enfield has managed to overtake Yamaha this time around as the Japanese bike maker only saw 1 percent of increase in sales.
