COVID-19 disrupted business operations of automobile brands in the first quarter of 2020. Nationwide lockdown forced the dealerships to close down the shutters, leading to financial losses for the motorcycle brands. Various motorcycle manufacturers are offering heavy discounts on various models plus added incentives like warranty and free accessories. Royal Enfield recently updated its entire motorcycle range to BS6 emission norms. India recently moved away from BS4 to cleaner BS6 emission norms to cut down on the vehicular pollution. Royal Enfield was offering discounts on bikes in May.
Royal Enfield is offering up to 5 years of extended warranty on various BS6 models. This warranty scheme also includes roadside assistance for the buyers. The warranty cost depends on the purchase date (as if the buyer does within 6 months of purchase or after 6 months from sale date). The current scheme is available for UCE, Himalayan BS6 as well as 650 Twins BS4 and BS6 models. The BS4 models of the UCE 350 and 500cc bikes owners can avail a 4-year warranty on these models.
The extended warranty doesn’t cover all the parts and components of Royal Enfield bikes. Components subjected to wear and tear like drive chain, sprocket, fuel filter, clutch plates, wiring harness are not covered under warranty. The Chenna-based automaker isn’t offering the warranty scheme on other parts like brake shoes, fuses, brushes, starter motors and other rubber parts.
