Skoda Auto has finally announced the price of its much-awaited Kushaq. The mid-size SUV has been launched at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). The price goes as high as Rs 17.59 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-end Style trim. The bookings for the all-new Kushaq have commenced at a token amount of Rs 35,000. Interested buyers can book the SUV either by directly visiting the dealership or via Skoda’s official website. The 2021 Kushaq is the first SUV to be built on the company’s new India-specific MQB AO IN platform. It is offered in a total of three trim levels- Active, Ambition, and Style. However, there are speculations that the Czech carmaker might introduce the range-topping Monte Carlo trim sometime in future.
Design-wise, Skoda Kushaq is in line with the Czech automaker’s large SUVs. It further carries over many elements from the Vision IN concept. The front fascia of the SUV features Skoda’s signature grille flanked by sleek headlights. There are secondary light clusters positioned just below the headlight on either side. On the sides, it gets a set of sporty dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear end of the SUV boasts of wrap-around LED tail lights, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a faux diffuser element on the bumper.
Moving inside the cabin of the mid size SUV, it comes with a minimalistic setup. The layered dashboard gets a thin chrome bar that further separates the top and the bottom. There is a free-standing, large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple Carplay & Android Auto positioned in the middle. The Kushaq further gets “My Skoda Connect” features that allows the customers to access vital information like live vehicle tracking, trip analysis, and many more. Other feature highlights include a customizable 10-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Smartlink, a two-spoke steering wheel, ventilated front seats, touch sensitive buttons for the climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charger, among many others. In terms of safety features, the all-new Kushaq comes with six airbags, rear-parking camera, ABS with EBD, a multi-collision braking system, auto headlamps and wipers, hill start assist, ESC, and tyre pressure monitoring system. The Suv will further be sold in a total of five color options namely Candy WHite, Reflex Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, and Tornado Red.
Under the bonnet, the Kushaq comes with a choice of two petrol units - a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI, and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI. The former churns out a maximum power of 113 bhp and a peak torque of 175 Nm. While the latter generates a top power of 148 bhp and a torque of 250 Nm. Both engines come equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. In addition, the 1.0-litre TSI gets a 6-speed torque converter and the 1.5-litre TSI gets a 7-speed DSG gearbox as an option. Besides this, the 1.5-litre TSI motor also gets cylinder deactivation technology for better fuel efficiency.
