The Kushaq is the first Skoda car under the India 2.0 Project in the country

Skoda India has announced that the Kushaq SUV has crossed 10,000 bookings in the country. The European brand also announced to equip the automatic Style variants of 1.0L and 1.5L petrol trims with 6 airbags and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) at an incremental cost of approximately Rs 40,000. Meanwhile, Skoda has also completed a glorious journey of 20 years of operations in the Indian market. Skoda Kushaq was launched in June 2021 in the mid-sized SUV segment to take on the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and MG Astor.

Speaking of Skoda's 20 years in India, it began the operation with a factory in Aurangabad while the Octavia was the first company model to go on sale. Later on, it also introduced more products from its global portfolio in the country like the Superb and Laura. It inaugurated the Pune facility in 2008 where it started the production of the Fabia hatchback. Furthermore, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Rapid were launched in the Indian market in 2010 and 2011, respectively. The big push from the brand came in 2017 when the Kodiaq full-sized SUV made its way to India. It also sold limited units of the Octavia vRS in the domestic market. The latest car launches from Skoda in India are the Karoq and Kushaq.

Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director – ŠKODA AUTO India, said, “Despite unprecedented pressures caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the supply challenges, we are delighted to announce  that we have crossed the 10,000 bookings milestone for the SKODA KUSHAQ. The KUSHAQ was made keeping in mind what matters most to customers, and it is a matter of pride for us that the car is finding its way to many Indian homes. 2021 is special for us because we complete two decades of operations in the country. We have been successful in providing an unparalleled value luxury proposition and the launch of KUSHAQ has really accelerated the ambitions of the ŠKODA brand in India. We are looking forward to some exciting times ahead, as we continue to move forward in this dynamic automotive market.”
