Skoda Slavia Camouflaged Prototype Revealed

It will have its global debut by the end of of this year in India

Skoda India has revealed the first image of the upcoming all-new Slavia sedan, albeit with heavy camouflage. The camouflage that the mid-sized sedan will wear in its final testing phase before the world premiere has been designed by Shreyas Karambelkar of Badlapur in Maharashtra. Skoda Slavia is the second company model after the Kushaq to be launched under the INDIA 2.0 project. The European automaker had announced the “Camouflage with ŠKODA” design contest for design professionals and budding designers in India and Shreyas was the winner of this contest.

Underpinning the MQB-A0-IN architecture, Skoda Slavia will be developed at the Pune facility with localization of up to 95 percent. It will have its global debut by the end of of this year in India. Zac Hollis, Brand Director ŠKODA AUTO India, says, “ŠKODA AUTO India congratulates Shreyas Karambelkar for winning the ‘Camouflage with ŠKODA’ contest. His design reflects a homogeneous blend of Indian and Czech cultures. The “Camouflage with ŠKODA” design competition kicked off in August, aimed at design studios, companies, universities, design students and design professionals. By the closing date of 18 August, more than 200 design proposals for Skoda Slavia camouflage wrap had been received from all over India. Five designs were shortlisted. The final decision was made by a jury comprising Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, Zac Hollis, Brand Director Skoda Auto India, and Oliver Stefani, Head of Skoda Design. As the winner of the contest, Karambelkar will now fly to Prague, where he will meet Oliver Stefani, Skoda Design Head.
