Skoda Slavia is the second model under INDIA 2.0 product campaign

Skoda India has released the engine specifications of the all-new Slavia sedan ahead of its launch in the country. Being a mid-sized sedan, Skoda Slavia will fill in the shoes of the Rapid while challenging the likes of Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. It is going to be the second product after the Kushaq SUV to be based on the Volkswagen Group's India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform. The name 'Slavia' brings back the memories of 1896 when Skoda founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement successfully marketed their first bicycles under the brand name Slavia.

Skoda Slavia is the second model under the INDIA 2.0 product campaign. Zac Hollis, Brand Director ŠKODA AUTO India, said: “With our new SLAVIA, we are launching a feature-rich vehicle that offers outstanding design, build quality, reliability and driving dynamics. Mechanically, the Slavia sedan will be offered with a couple of TSI petrol engines. The base variants will be powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder motor with power output of 113 bhp while the higher variants will draw power from a 1.5L 4-cylinder mill, delivering 148 bhp. Both the engines will be linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. There will be a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit as option with the 1.0L engine while the bigger 1.5L powertrain will get a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission as optional. For those asking, the 1.5L TSI engine will boast of active cylinder technology (ACT) which automatically shuts down two cylinders when the engine load is low.
