The car looks rugged yet premium.

The company has shown its new Musso pick-up, which gets more standard kit and an upgraded interior for 2018. The car’s front-end resembles the Rexton SUV (it’s based on the same platform).

SsangYong says that the Musso’s structure’s rigidity allows for better safety and boosts its handling and off-road abilities. Under the hood sits an updated 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, that now makes 184hp and 420Nm. Power is sent to a part-time four-wheel drive system via a six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic transmission.

The car allows you to enable permanent all-wheel drive for low grip surfaces as well. The car is 5,095mm long and 1,950mm wide, with a height of 1,840mm. It also comes fitted with a load deck with a rear door that folds flat to provide space for a full-sized Euro pallet. It also comes with a wooden base for transporting heavy goods. This car is a proper five-seater on the inside, and Ssangyong has upgraded the cabin significantly.

There’s a cleaner dash design with a standard centrally mounted 8.0-inch touchscreen. The screen comes with DAB radio, Bluetooth and MP3 connectivity. Higher-spec models come with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

For now, the Musso pick-up may not make it here but the Rexton SUV is headed here by Diwali 2018.
