Strom Motors had unveiled the entry-level Strom R3 electric car in 2018. It is likely to be priced at Rs 45 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The car was supposed to launch in March 2020 but got postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, bookings for the top-end variant is expected to open soon. The vehicle is available in four 3-tone metallic color options.
In terms of design, the two-seater, three-wheeled electric car gets a sunroof, LED lights, muscular front bumper, and a rear spoiler. The vehicle rides on 13-inch wheels which are shod with 150/80 section tyres. It gets alloyed wheel at the front and a stamped steel wheel at the rear.
Dimensionally, the electric car measures 2907 mm in length, 1450 mm in width, and 1572 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 185 mm.
The cabin of Strom R3 boasts of a dual-tone dashboard and 12-way adjustable driver's seat. Apart from this, the vehicle gets 300 litre of luggage space at the rear and 100 litres at the front. Other highlighted features include a 3-spoke steering wheel and a 4.3-inch touchscreen digital instrument cluster. It also gets a 7.0-inch vertically oriented touchscreen head-unit that comes with an IOT-enabled Continuous Monitoring System and has 4G connectivity, voice control, gesture control, 20 GB onboard music storage, smart music playlist, mobile connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation with voice. There is also an auxiliary 2.4-inch touchscreen below it. The car comes with a 1 year/15000 km warranty.
Under the skin, the Strom R3 is powered by an electric motor that produces 20 bhp power and 90 Nm torque. It also comes with three driving modes namely Eco, Normal and Sports. Regenerative braking also comes as standard while power to the electric motor is provided by a lithium-ion battery. Based on a high-strength steel space frame, the vehicle gets two hydraulic disc brakes at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The car has a top speed of 80kmph. The entry-level car is claimed to offer a range of up to 200 km on a single charge. The battery takes 3 hours to fully charge.
