The third-generation Swift Sport is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol mill for the first time.

The Sport was shown in the same sporty yellow colour as the previous digital unveil. The car will be powered by a turbocharged 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol engine for the first time instead of a naturally aspirated motor. The engine puts out a healthy 140hp and 230Nm. The car is rear-wheel drive and comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The third-gen Swift weighs a mere 970kg, and is 50mm longer than the standard Swift at 3,890mm, and is 1,735mm wide and 1,500mm tall, while ground clearance stands at 120mm. This car comes fitted with a new radiator grille, bumper design, front lip spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, 17-inch alloy wheels and dual exhaust pipes.

On the inside, there’s a red-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel, bucket seats with red stitching and ‘Sport’ badging, stainless steel pedals and red highlights on the dashboard, central console, door panels and in the instrument panel.

Maruti hasn’t confirmed if this version will make its way here, but if it does come here then it will rival cars like the Fiat Abarth Punto, the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS.
