Tata Motors forayed into the premium hatchback segment in the Indian market with the all-new Altroz in January 2020. The hatch was introduced with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines right from the start while priced in a range of Rs 5.29-9.29 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India). Now, it has been learnt that Tata Motors is offering discounts of upto Rs 45,000 on both the petrol and diesel variants of Altroz in the month of May. The discounts and benefits can be availed through the dealerships as well as the company's new digital ‘Click to Drive’ sales platform.
Tata Altroz was introduced in five trim levels: XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ (O). Adorning the company's IMPACT 2.0 design language and based on the 45X concept that debuted at the 2018 Auto Expo, it is the first Tata car to be underpinning the ALFA modular platform (AMP). The premium hatch also boasts the distinction of getting the highest 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP as it comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high speed limiter etc. as standard. Some of the salient features of the Altroz include automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, front and rear armrests, rear AC vents, 12 volt rear socket, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Voice Commands.

Mechanically, Tata Altroz is available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with BS6 compliant engines. The petrol variants draw power from a naturally aspirated 1.2L 3-cylinder Revotron engine which belts out 85bhp at 6000rpm and 113Nm at 3300rpm. The diesel variants, on the other hand, are powered by the 1.5L 4-cylinder Revotorq engine which generates maximum power output of 89bhp at 4000rpm and peak torque performance of 200Nm between 1250-3000rpm. Both the engines are linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while automatic gearbox is expected to be introduced at a later stage. Tata Altroz competes with the likes of Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Toyota Glanza. It is the only BS6 diesel engine powered hatchback in the segment as none of its rivals are available with a diesel mill.
