Triumph Street Triple R to replace Street Triple S as the base model

Triumph Motorcycles India is all set to introduce the 2020 Street Triple R tomorrow. The motorcycle will replace the Street Triple S and further, it will be positioned below the top-spec trim Street Triple RS. It is expected to be priced at Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched in the Indian market, it will rival against the likes of Kawasaki Z900 and KTM 750 Duke in its segment. 

Cosmetically, the 2020 Street Triple R shares a lot of features with the premium Street Triple RS. Thus upfront, the bike will feature a dual-split headlamp setup. It will further get a sculpted fuel tank and a short opaque extended visor. At the rear, it will offer an LED tail-light. The Street Triple R will come equipped with alloy wheels. Other notable features will include a fully-digital TFT instrument console, stepped-up split seats, and an exposed under seat frame among many others. 

2020 Street Triple R

Mechanically, the 2020 Street Triple R will draw power from a 765cc inline 3-cylinder engine. The engine will churn out 116 bhp power and 77 Nm torque. It will be linked to a 6-speed gearbox. The same engine powers the 2020 Triple Street RS but here the motor delivers 121 bhp of power output with 79 Nm of peak torque. Suspension duties will be taken care by 41mm inverted Showa separate function big piston forks upfront and linkage assisted, fully-adjustable, Ohlins piggy bank mono-shock towards the rear. As for the brakes, then the bike will get 310 mm floating discs with Bremo M4.324-piston monoblock calipers in the front and a 220 mm disc brake with Brembo single-piston sliding caliper at the rear. It will also feature dual-channel ABS on the safety front.
