Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol is expected to be priced at a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the standard model currently on sale

Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol launch is one of the much-awaited events in India. Now, we have the Indian automaker sending official invitations to the media houses regarding a “Tata Altroz Event” to be held on the 13th of January 2020. It is unclear if it relates to the Limited Edition Altroz or the much-awaited turbo petrol variant. There is a high chance that the homegrown manufacturer could finally launch the Altroz turbo petrol variant considering that the production-spec model has been spied testing in recent times. Tata Altroz Turbo would rival the likes of Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo in the premium hatchback segment in the domestic market. Talking about the pricing, it will retail at a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the standard petrol model. Altroz Turbo is expected to become the first Tata model to come equipped with a DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission).

Separating the Turbo petrol variant from the current model on sale in India is the presence of a turbo badge on the rear tailgate. Additionally, models featuring an automatic gearbox will sport a DCT badge. Spy shots surfaced on the internet also revealed that the upcoming model is seen sporting Tectonic Blue colour paint job. This colour scheme is not available on the current Altroz models on sale in the country with Nexon subcompact SUV featuring it. This could mean that the upcoming Altroz Turbo would be available in an exclusive Tectonic Blue scheme to distinguish it from the other standard models on sale in the domestic market.

Do not expect the Altroz Turbo to come with any feature updates. Probably, it will be offered as an additional powertrain option alongside top-end XT and XZ trims. The turbo-engine will be borrowed from the Nexon albeit in a lower state of tune. It will belt out 108.5 bhp of maximum power output and 140 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options would include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an option of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic stick. Power-wise, Altroz Turbo would deliver 10 bhp less than the Next-Gen Hyundai i20 but will be equal to Volkswagen Polo.
