Tata Gravitas was scheduled to launch during the festive season around October-November 2020.

Tata Motors was expected to launch a plethora of all-new products in the Indian market in 2020. This product range also included Gravitas 7-seater SUV and HBX micro SUV but now, we have learnt that the company has put all the new launch plans on hold due to the nationwide lockdown caused by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, Tata Gravitas was scheduled to launch during the festive season around October-November this year but now it has been pushed to early 2021 as the manufacturers are facing supply-chain constraints because of the lockdown.

Being unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo in Concept form, Tata Gravitas is essentially a stretched version of Harrier with a third row of seats. It is longer, wider and taller than the Harrier by 63mm, 72mm and 80mm, respectively. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2741mm while the ground clearance stands at 200mm. Underpinning the OMEGA ARC architecture, the Gravitas SUV will debut in 6 and 7-seater configurations with the 6-seater variant coming with captain seats in the middle row. The launch of the Gravitas was delayed as the production facilities were shut down for almost a couple of months due to Coronavirus and it compelled the company to rejig its product planning and strategy in India.

Tata Motors has carried out a handful of updates in the exterior of Gravitas in order to distinguish it from the Harrier SUV. It has been equipped with larger alloy wheels, redesigned roof rails and refreshed tail-lamp cluster. Even the windshield is bigger than Harrier while the rear spoiler is also more upright. The cabin will be identical to the Harrier with most of the features making their way into the Gravitas. Mechanically, it will be powered by the Harrier's BS6 compliant 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine which develops maximum power of 170bhp and peak torque of 350Nm. The transmission choices available would be a 6-speed manual and automatic units while a 4x4 drive system could also be offered.
